How-To Block Someone from Emailing You on Gmail

You have your Gmail account and you’re getting messages. Unfortunately, not all of those emails are something you want. Next thing you know, there’s a dozen emails from someone you don’t know. Then there’re the emails from the ever popular “psycho EX”. Let’s not overlook any emails from you do know but in general don’t want anyway. Then spam/advertisement emails while you don’t even know how they got your email address.

Rather quickly the question becomes, “How do I block someone” or “How do I stop receiving emails from someone” or “Is there a way I can prevent specific emails in Gmail”? As it turns out, it’s yes to all. No matter what address someone sends you an email from, Block Sender for Gmail can put a stop to it.

Simply follow the steps below to stop unwanted emails permanently.

Step 1) Open Google Chrome and go to the Block Sender website. You’ll immediately see the “Install Block Sender” button. Click it to install Block Sender. It’s a very short and quick process which requires nothing from you to complete.

Step 2) After the very short installation of Block Sender, log into your Gmail account that you want to stop unwanted emails. Gmail would normally load in your browsers anyway directly after installing Block Sender.

Step 3) Open any email in question. You’ll see Block on the controls bar next to the Delete button. Either click the “Block” button and it’s done or click the down arrow button to see a list of options to choose from.

Step 4) Select which option you want to use on the current email. There are several options to choose from after you click the down arrow button. Click the option you want to use.

Step 5) You’re done and the chance of seeing another email from the person in question is no longer a concern, ever.

Once that’s done, that’s it. You won’t have to do that again and the emails from the currently opened email won’t show up in your inbox. This is permanent unless you change options in the Block Sender Options page. And yes, there’re multiple “safety nets” included in case you mistakenly block someone or if you once again want emails from someone you blocked. Otherwise, they’re no longer a concern for your Gmail inbox.

Gmail does an excellent job of blocking spam, but sometimes you just want to go the extra mile and prevent some mail from ever reaching your account.
